The Q&A Archives: Knockout Roses

Question: We placed rose collars with topsoil around our knockout roses to prevent winter damage. When should we remove the collars & soil? Please advise.

Answer: I suspect the worst of the winter weather is over for you. As long as no snow is predicted you can remove the winter protection from your roses. If snow is predicted, replace the collars. Best wishes with your roses!
