The Q&A Archives: Tomato Staking Techniques

Question: Is there an easy way to stake up tomatoes? I have a heck of a time stringing their branches to a post. Have a good day. John

Answer: Try starting when the tomatoes are small using twine LOOSELY tied around the main stem. You'll have to prune suckers as you go and keep tying the main stem to the stake as the plant grows. If you want to leave the suckers to grow a bushier plant and more fruit, it's better to use a wire cage than individual stakes.
