Most apples available today are hybrids and will not come true from seed. As an offhand guess, I should think some of the antique varieties would have a better chance of producing viable trees. If you still want to try, and there is no guarantee your apple tree will produce apples, simply plant the seed about a half inch into the soil. If it is viable it will sprout. Keep it watered and make sure it has all day sunshine. Who knows what kind of tree you might get?
