Dear Gardener,

I have several potted Japanese Maples, which I kept in my sun room for the winter; I would like to put them outside, though I plan to keep them potted. Is it safe, in terms of weather, to put them outside?

Thanks, Carl

If your Japanese maples have leaves on them now you will need to wait until the weather warms to take them outside. If the branches are bare now and they are dormant, you can take them outdoors now. Hope this clarifies things for you.
