I HAVE A SOUTH FACING COVERED PORCH (15' X 120') AND WOULD LIKE VARIOUS SELECTIONS THAT ARE EASY TO MAINTAIN. I USUALLY JUST USE TROPICALS IN MY MANY VARIOUS SIZE CONTAINERS. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE DIFFERENT I COULD USE. I HAVE NOT HAD MUCH LUCK WITH FLOWERING PLANTS AS THEY WILL NOT RECEIVE SUN.

You can try impatiens, coleus, caladiums, columbine, Firespike (Odontonema strictum), and lobelia. All will grow in the shade and should provide some texture and color that most tropicals cannot. Best wishes with your container garden.
