I recently put a sweet potatoe vine in flowerbed and the weather has changed from warm to cold, drastically. Can I take out of the ground, put in pot and place inside in hopes to save it?

You could dig it up, or you could cover it with straw or pine boughs to help it through the cold weather. As long as there are no hard frosts, the plant should be okay. But if you expect prolonged cold or frigid weather, you may want to rescue it from the garden now.
