| Can I transplant perennials, specifically Perennial Bachelor's Button and Wood Spurge (Euphorbia amygdaloides), after significant spring growth has taken place? Are there any specific rules? Am I better off waiting until next spring or this fall? They really need to be moved around but I'm not too familiar w/transplanting and am not sure if it's too late. |
| Hey! What's a garden for if you can't move stuff where you want it? Perennials are VERY flexible as to transplanting. Sure, it would probably be better to wait until early fall, but spring is the next best time to do it. In fact, I do it all the time (in spring) because it's a little easier to dig now. They're smaller and you're probably a bit more energetic and enthusiastic. Just be sure to dig a generous rootball, and water the plants in, and keep them well-watered for their first growing season.
