| i have two australian fire trees and they went through a cold winter and appear to be dead at the top, they have a washed out look to them. the base of the tree still looks normal. i am not sure if the tree is dead or just dormant. |
| Morella faya, or fire tree, is frost tender and will not survive freezing temperatures so if your garden was hit by frost this past winter, the fire trees may have suffered damage. You can cut into a branch and look at the tissue in the center; green tissue indicates it's alive; brown tissue indicates that branch is dead. Keep pruning them back until you find live tissue. Hope you find some! |
