| You can transplant your peonies anytime in the spring. If they are still dormant, simply dig up the roots; if they have already started to sprout, try not to damage the tops of the plants as you are digging. Prepare the planting hole by digging down about 18 inches to loosen the soil. Add some compost or aged manure to the soil and refill the hole, place the roots so the bud is only 2 inches below the soil surface (or set the plant at the same level as it was growing before) and finished filling the hole. Water well and spread a mulch over the area. Good luck with the move. |
