The Q&A Archives: Camellia Pruning

Question: What time of year is the best time to prune a very large camellia. I live in the San Francisco area.

Answer: Camellias can bloom any time from December through April so wait until your camellia has finished blooming and then prune it back. If you prune too early, you will lose their floral display and have to wait until next year to see the beautiful flowers.
