Hi, I have a succulent (Aloe) in a container that needs to be transplanted into a bigger pot; however, I cannot easily remove it from its current container. The roots have grown out of the holes in the bottom and they are fairly thick. And, the dirt is pretty compact. The container is plastic and I was thinking I would try to cut the container to remove the plant. Any other suggestions? |
You may very well end up having to cut the container away from the roots of your aloe. Before doing that, though, try soaking the pot in a bucket of water. Sometimes water will loosen the soil to the point that you can ease the plant out of the pot. Soak for at least 30 minutes, but no more than an hour. Failing that, a good sharp pair of shears will help you cut through the plastic pot. Good luck with your project! |
