Early spring is the best time to prune hollies. If you prune in the summer you will prune off the potential for berries this fall and winter so get out those pruning shears and trim your holly. You can shape your holly with an electric trimmer or you can cut off individual stems. I wouldn't remove more than 3-6" in any one pruning session. If you want to reduce the size more than that, plan on gradually reducing it over a period of 2-3 years. Best wishes with your holly!
