The Q&A Archives: what is a good tree

Question: when you have a spetic system in your front yard?
I want to plant a tree in the very beginning of the yard but don't want the roots to grow though the spetic system?

Answer: I wish there were a tree to recommend but unless you have at least 25' between the tree planting site and the leach field for your septic system, you will have expensive problems down the line when the tree's roots enter into the system. It's best not to plant trees in a small yard. If you do have the 25' space between the tree and the system, a small tree such as a dogwood would work. Wish I had better news for you!
