Short Tree - Knowledgebase Question

I am wanting to add a tree with colorfull leaves that won't get over 10 feet. What are some good options?

Except for dwarf fruit trees, I can't think of any that will grow only 10' tall. You might want to consider planting a large shrub rather than a tree and then training the shrub to a single trunk. You can remove the lower leaves and branches and have only a topknot of foliage - which may resemble a tree. Shrubs to consider include lilac, pieris, eastern redbud or even a wisteria.
