The Q&A Archives: plot too low !!!

Question: i have a garden plot and everytime it rain the water stay there i raised it up by puting a raise bed and adding some more soil, but still the soil takes time to dry and too wet can you give me some more suggestion what to do and what to put on it ?

Answer: Usually a raised bed will drain much faster than the ground around it so maybe you just need to add some organic amendments to the raised bed. Spread 4-5 inches of compost, aged manure or shredded leaves over the top of the bed and dig it in to a depth of 8-10 inches. The organic matter will loosen the soil and help it drain quickly. Hope it works well for you.
