How do I keep an Armidilla from rooting up my vegatable garden? And also keep them out of my yard? Thank you |
Your armadillos are searching for grubs and other insects in your soft, moist planting beds. The best ways to deal with them are to fence them out or trap and relocate them. The standard sized live box traps work well. Bait the trap with macaroni noodles cooked in beef boullion (and plan on catching a neighbor cat or two first!). Armadillos are bumbling wanderers so it may help to angle two boards out from the entrance to the trap forming a "V" to sort of guide them in. You may need to contact your state parks department or local wildlife control department for suggestions in where to relocate the pests. They need to be let out far from a populated area where they can run free without invading another poor gardener's yard. After all, maybe that's where your 'dillo came from! |
