When is the best time of day to water lawn? I've heard morning, evening and even at night.

There are all kinds of opinions out there! Morning is best because it allows the grass to dry before dusk. Wet blades can be more prone to disease problems than dry blades. Late night or very early morning is okay because the grass won't be wet too many hours before the sun comes up to dry it off. I would avoid afternoon or early evening watering - water evaporation is at its highest in the afternoon and early evening watering will leave the grass too wet for too many hours and thus more prone to disease pathogens. Hope this clarifies things for you.
