The Q&A Archives: Plant Groupings

Question: My patio plants.I need to group those that require moist soil and those that need to dry out between waterings. If I give you a list, can you tell me what to plant together?
Dusty Miller,Dianthus,gderanium,anthuriam,Fittonia,begoniaangel,bougainvillea,persianshield,salvia, broad sword ferns.
Help appreciated!! Sue Packard

Answer: Dusty miller, geranium, dianthus, bougainvilla and salvia will grow best if the top of the soil is allowed to dry slightly between waterings. Sword fern can stand some drought but appreciates moisture so place them near your Fittonia, angelwing begonia, persian shield, and anthuriums. They all appreciate moist soil. Hope this helps!
