Could be that the soil is compacted and dry so for best results dig the area and incorporate some compost or other organic matter. Organic matter will help hold moisture for the roots of your plants. Then choose some drought tolerant plants such as lantana, Mexican oregano, verbena or salvia for the site. Water deeply at least once a week and you should have some color around your mailbox all summer long. Enjoy!
