The Q&A Archives: what to plant

Question: i have a area at my mail box that will not grow anything with color it has full sun all the time i would like something with color instead of just green

Answer: Could be that the soil is compacted and dry so for best results dig the area and incorporate some compost or other organic matter. Organic matter will help hold moisture for the roots of your plants. Then choose some drought tolerant plants such as lantana, Mexican oregano, verbena or salvia for the site. Water deeply at least once a week and you should have some color around your mailbox all summer long. Enjoy!
