I need something to climb a trellis which is above a large 24 inch pot. The area gets filtered morning sun only. (This pot/trellis is important for screening some ugly wiring/meters on the very front of my house)

Here are a couple of suggestions: Variegated porcelain vine (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata 'Elegans'): Has attractive green leaves that are variegated white and pink. Produces an abundance of porcelain-blue berries; the warmer the summer, the more fruit. Needs support of wires or a trellis to climb. Dutchman's Pipe will grow in shade, as will Virginia Creeper and English Ivy. Good luck with your garden!
