We are starting a vegetable garden and most of the seeds say to start in a small pot first then replant in the garden. Is this necessary?

In Florida, where you have a nice, long growing season, it is not necessary to start seeds indoors. You can plant them directly outdoors. In areas with short summer seasons, it's best to get a jump start on the season by starting the seeds inside and transplanting them outdoors when the weather warms. You won't need to . Best wishes with your garden!
