Lespedeza is a summer annual broadleaf weed. Sometimes called "Japanese clover", it grows in drought-prone sites, or compacted dry sites. Improving the soil compaction with a core aerator, watering and mowing regularly, will help your lawn grow lush and thick enough to crowd out these weeds. You can pull the weeds, roots and all your you can use a broadleaf weed killer (containing 2,4-D) on your lawn. Best wishes with your lawn.
