The Q&A Archives: Windy planting

Question: The winds are very high here in the Eddy Co. plains and it is still getting down into the 30's at night. What is okay to plant for a full sun yard right now?

Answer: I think it's a little too early in the season to begin planting. Wait until your frosty weather is over before putting new plants in your garden. If you're itching to get out and get gardening, you can prepare the beds for your new plants by spreading 4-5 inches of compost or other organic matter over the bed and digging it in to a depth of 8-10 inches. This will make the planting bed nice and loose, and full of nutrients for your new plants. Enjoy your garden!
