I've been planting new perennials over the last 3 weeks or so. Right now they're predicting a hard freeze next Tues. Should I protect these new plants? Thank you.

Because your perennials are newly planted, I think a little frost protection is in order. You can simply cover them in the early evening with bed linens, old tablecloths or lightweight blankets. Or you can purchase little hotcaps to place over each plant (available in garden centers). Be sure to remove the protection the next morning - sunshine can bake the plants under the covers!
