I live in Waukesha, Wi and my husband and I are going to try our hands at rose bushes this year. We would like to plant them with a southern exposure. Will this be okay and when is the best time to plant them? How much should they be watered?

Roses grow best in full sunshine - 6-8 hours is minimum for healthy growth and lots of flowers. They need about one inch of water per week so plan on watering 2-3 times a week during the summer month, deeply soaking the soil. Bare root roses can be planted now; roses in containers should be planted after your weather has warmed up (mid-May). Enjoy your new roses!
