My yard is St Augustine and it is 1 yr old. There is not much soil under the grass. How can I build up my yard depth?

It will be difficult to do with St. Augustine because the above ground stolons are so thick. You might try spreading a thin layer of compost over the lawn. It will eventually work its way down to soil level. You may have to do this on an annual basis to accomplish your goal. Best wishes with your lawn.
