The Q&A Archives: Pruning Hosta

Question: I have a low, spreading hosta plant that is way too large now. Can Hosta be pruned to keep their size small?

Answer: Pruning won't keep your hosta small for very long - it will simply regrow new leaves. The best approach is to dig and divide the roots of your hosta, replanting a smaller root division.
