The Q&A Archives: Dividing Yucca Plants

Question: I have a perennial garden that has two yucca plants that have probably been in the garden for 20 years. I need to divide them and need to know when to do this...can I do it in the spring? And should I leave the "original" plant or us one of the newer off shoots? Susan Lines Akron, OH

Answer: Springtime is the best time to transplant. You can leave the original plant AND use one of the newer offshoots. Depends on how much room you have and the condition and size of the divisions. You can decide once you've divided the plants! Have fun!
