why do my boxwoods have browning leaves after the winter, and what should I do. I live in eastern Michigan.

The browning is usually due to cold winter winds. The leaves are dessicated (lost moisture) and they turn brown. Just shear your boxwoods back each spring. This will remove the dead leaves and promote lots of new growth. Best wishes with your boxwoods.
