The Q&A Archives: I need help.

Question: Is it normal for a rosebush to have black thorns? Only half the bush has black thorns, the rest are brown.

Answer: Sometimes the thorns will turn black with age. As long as the plant is otherwise healthy, I wouldn't worry about it. There are no diseases associated with the thorns turning from brown to black.
