Hello,

I wish to plant collards, tomatoes and lettuce in pots. The seedlings range in age from 3-8 weeks old. How often do I give them liquid fertilizer/plant food? What size pot should I use?

Most all vegetables will adapt to growing in containers. You'll need 12-18 inch deep containers for your collards and tomatoes and only 6 inch deep containers for your lettuces. Since the roots of your plants are contained the best way to fertilize is by using a half strength dilution of water soluable fertilizer such as Miracle Gro and feeding every 2-3 weeks. This way your plants will have an almost constant source of nutrients without the possibility of overfeeding and burning the roots. Best wishes with your garden!
