My mom purchased a pot of flowering tulips from Home Depot. Would I be able to plant these outside for them to continue to bloom in following years? If so, should I wait until the blooms are done? I live in WI, is there a best time to plant them outside if this works? Thank you much! Brittany |
It should work for you. Cut off the spent flowering stem but leave the foliage alone until it dies down naturally. When that happens, pull the dead leaves away, unpot the bulb and plant it in the ground. The bulbs will rest until this fall and then they will develop roots. In the spring you should see new foliage and a new flowering stem on each. Enjoy! |
