My dahlias are sprouting and need to be in the ground. Should I divide the clumps with one eye per division or is it preferable to keep the clump intact and thereby have a many stemmed plant? |
Definately divide your dahlia tubers! Since you can see the bud on each tuber, dividing them will be easy. Each tuber will produce a multi-stemmed plant. Dig your planting holes about 1' foot deep and space the plants about 3' feet apart. Be sure to add a support stake when you plant the tubers so you'll have something to tie the stems to when they emerge. |
