Bugle weed is the common name for Ajuga, a low growing ground cover. Every spring it sends up 6-8" spikes of deep blue flowers. After the flowers are spent you can go over it with your lawnmower to remove the spent flowers. It is suitable for sunny areas and while it spreads to cover the ground, it is easily controlled. It grows thick so the area usually remains weed free.
