The Q&A Archives: shade

Question: I have mostly shade with patches of sun for a few hours each day. What are some good plants, and are there any flowers I can plant?

Answer: There are a number of perennials that grow well in the shade. Consider planting Astilbe, Dicentra, Epimedium, Hellebore, Lamium, Pulmonaria, Tiarella and Tricyrtis. You might also want to include ferns, and hostas with patterned foliage to add textural interest. Enjoy your shade garden!
