What low temperature will peppers and tomatoes tolerate? We are getting some lows near 32-35 and I have covered the planst with a 2L pop bottles. Can I leave them covered in the day also? Should I drill some air holes in the tops?

You absolutely should protect your warm-season pepper and tomato plants from low temperatures, and pop bottles will do the trick. Remove them during the day, however, or they'll turn into hothouses that will cook your plants. Just put the bottles over the plants in the evening and remove them in the morning, until your nighttime temperatures average about 45F degrees.
