The Q&A Archives: tomato cages

Question: what size tomato cage do you recommend for indeterminate tomato plant. you sell two sizes I think 46 and 54 inch. Or do you think stakes are better?
thanks....Ron getz

Answer: Indeterminate type tomato plants keep growing all season long and can reach upwards of 6 feet so the taller cage is best. Staking works, too. Use 2 or 3 stakes per plant and tie the main stem to one (I use nylon pantyhose cut into strips) then tie the largest vining branches to the two other stakes. Hope you have a bountiful harvest!
