I need to plant a redwood container on a concrete south-facing porch. It is pretty much full sun, and definitely full light, and can get very hot in the summertime. Also I need something that is safe for the cat, if he might decide to nibble. |
Sounds like you're looking for drought-tolerant plants; cotoneaster, lavender, salvia, lantana, coreopsis, gaillardia, kniphofia, linum, zinnia, marigold, verbena and Mexican sunflower are good choices for your container. They each bloom and perform beautifully in the hot sunshine. Be sure to supply plenty of water during the growing season to keep the plants healthy and productive. |
