I have several of these bushes that were hit by hail in the Spring 2 years ago-they grew to about 1', but had been huge in the years before that. Last year they got quite a bit bigger, but had no blooms on them. Do you think they will get blooms this year or anytime in the future? I am just thinking I might have to replace them but would rather not if I don't have to. Thanks for your help! |
I don't think you will need to replace your hydrangeas, but I would suggest pruning them back to help shape them and to encourage lots of new growth. Endless Summer produces flowers on new growth so anything you can do to encourage new growth will ensure they bloom freely for you. Start by pruning everything back by half. Everywhere you prune you will get two new stems and with any luck, they will each produce a flower. You can also feed your shrubs with a bloom booster fertilizer (5-10-10 or 10-20-20). Good luck with your hydrangeas! |
