The Q&A Archives: Bulbs

Question: My hyacinths bloomed and are not spent. Just long stems are left. A couple got pulled-up by mistake. What do I do with them now??

Answer: If you can replant them, it will help. If not, they may not perform well for you next year. The leaves transport energy back to the bulbs for next year's floral display. Prematurely removing the leaves means there will be less stored energy and the bulb may not flower next year.
