There are a couple of things you can do now that you have the weeds out of the bed. If it is an annual bed - one that you routinely clear out every spring - you can plant your plants and then spread a thick organic mulch over the bare soil. This will help suppress weeds and at the end of the season you can dig it into the soil and add a fresh layer of mulch. This organic matter will help improve your soil, especially if you do it on an annual basis. Or, if the bed has perennial plants, you can lay weed block fabric over the entire bed, cutting holes for the plants. Cover the landscape fabric/weed block with bark or some other material to disguise it and you will have a weed free garden for many years. Enjoy!
