Perennials are your best choice, especially those that love the heat such as Melampodium leucanthum (Blackfoot daisy), Salvia, Desert Sand Verbena (Abronia villosa), Salvia greggii (Autumn sage), Gallardia 'Fanfare' or Mexican Petunia. Star jasmine may not appreciate the hot summer sunshine. Good luck with your garden!
