I have one big tree that several little tree have grown from. We will be cutting the little trees down before they get to big. These little trees are all over, between the frence and even in the front yard. What I we do with the stumps to asure that they don't grown back? Do we need to cut them down or is there something we can just pour on them to kill them. Thanks |
The little suckers that are growing from the roots of your large tree are connected to the tree and are getting their moisture and nourishment from the large tree. Because they are connected, you don't want to use any chemicals to kill the suckers or the chemicals will be transported back to the large tree and could kill it, too. Just cut the suckers down as they appear. Some trees send out more suckers than others, and it sounds as though you have one that freely suckers. Just cut or mow them down. Best wishes with your landscape! |
