Broccoli is a cool season crop so I'd suggest you wait and plant it in late October, or next February so it will have 3 months of cool weather in which to grow and mature. Peas and beans are great for containers, as are most other veggies. Try patio or cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, even leaf lettuces. A 4 gallon container will hold either 2-3 pea plants, 2 bush bean plants, one tomato or pepper plant, or 3-4 leaf lettuce plants. Enjoy your garden!
