The Q&A Archives: lettuce

Question: Can I plant my lettuce seedlings now?

Answer: Lettuce grows well in cool weather but is frost tender. So, if temperatures in your garden are 40 or above, go ahead and plant your lettuces. If frost threatens after they are planted, cover them temporarily with hot caps or even inverted glass jars. Be sure to remove the protection in the morning or the caps or jars can cook your lettuce!
