I want to plant a low maintenance flowering shrub that needs little watering in front of my house. It will be directly in front of my house-not more than 3 ft. away and next to 3 other small tree type shrubs. This area faces west with full sun all day. I'm a beginner gardener in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Thanks!

Bumald Spirea grows 2-4 feet tall and wide, Dwarf Nandina (Heavenly Bamboo) is also a small shrub. Aside from those two, you might consider some bushy perennials in the spot - lavender cotton might work or red hot poker. Both are drought tolerant.
