I have a small area that I have amended the soil with peat moss, compost, and pine bark mulch, and landscape mix. Area gets filtered sun. Any hints on how to better prepare my soil before I plant next week?

I think you've done everything you can for your new plants. When you plant, make sure they are planted at the same soil level as they were growing in the nursery containers and water them well after planting to help settle the soil. Then water deeply once each week during the growing season. Their roots will establish quickly and you should see some new growth later in the summer. Enjoy your beautiful new plants!
