The Q&A Archives: tomato holes

Question: I am getting round holes in my green tomatoes about 1/4

Answer: There's a tiny little pest called a fruit worm that can cause the damage you describe. These insects are difficult to control because they spend so much of their time hidden and protected from sprays. As soon as you see signs of the damage, spray with B.t., a biological control, every three to five days until the infestation is under control. Bt is sold under the brand name Dipel and targets only caterpillars. Be sure to follow label directions. Good luck with your tomatoes!
