| I have two kentia palms which i placed in my living room, how often should i water them to prevent tips of the leafs turn brown? |
| Kentia palms are some of the most durable palms and grow well both indoors and out. The major cause of browning leaves, especially in houseplants, is overwatering so you are wise in wanting to supply enough, but not too much water to your new plants. Start by watering thoroughly so the potting soil is completely saturated and then allow the excess to drain. Don't water again until the top inch of soil is dry or when the pot is lightweight when you pick it up. When it's time to water, flood the soil with water until it drains out of the bottom of the pot. This will wet the entire root mass and drive out any air pockets that may have developed. Don't water again until the top inch of potting soil has dried out. Best wishes with your palms. |
