I know fall is a better time for transplanting, but can I transplant in the spring? I live in the northeast (Cape Cod, MA) The shrubs in question are yucca, rhododendron, azalea, hosta to start with. Thanks.

Either spring or fall are good seasons to dig and transplant landscape trees and shrubs. That's when weather is cooler and rainfall usually abundant. Both conditions will help the plants re-establish themselves quickly. Go ahead and move your plants. If they suffer some transplant stress they may not bloom on schedule - but then again, they just might. Hope so! Enjoy your garden!
